FINALLY, I had time to put the finishing touches on this Futurehaus Project. http://www.futurehaus.com/projects/onthesea/onthesea-01.cfm edit: Here's the direct link http://www.futurehaus.com/projects/onthesea/On_the_Sea.mp3 Thanks to these composers for their contributions: Jouni Airaksinen, aka Mark Vera (Finland) Edward Coli (USA) Yves Cooreman - Spaceman (UK) Patrick Gaffney (USA) Jason Green - Bubble Warp (USA) Ryan Green (USA) Steve Michaelson (USA) Andy Moody (UK) Bruce Rich - NOVAchild (USA) Shane Sanders (USA) Jesse Tokarz (USA) I know I need to get the paperwork out to you guys (the composers). Be patient with me as I'm covered up in this kind of stuff from all angles it seems. The "Dream Sequencers" project is next on the list of things to take off the table of procrastination. -Shane Last edited by Shane Sanders on Wed Jun 23, 2004 6:22 am; edited 1 time in total |

Listened to this last night and while KvR was down a bit I couldn't comment. This sounds really smooth and great. Can't wait for the direct link So do tell a little of how this track came about and the work that went into getting this lot into gear and into one tune. |

So do tell a little of how this track came about and the work that went into getting this lot into gear and into one tune. Thanks for listening. Well, we basically worked around such a rigid tonal rule that it made things much easier than trying to make a proper song. I think it pushed people into thinking about timbre and rhythm more than usual, and this is reflected in the piece. It's definitely a piece centered around mood, sort of like a castle full of different rooms, and one just wanders from one to the next. This project was an open call, and many of the people came from the Tuaregs forum (www.brambos.com). As entries for the project trickled in (via FTP), I began to try out production ideas, especially with the drumming. After four or five entries were in my hands, I could hear where it needed to go. From there it was really a matter of sewing things together with drums, my own contributions, and production. It wasn't easy, and I got burned out on it for a while. But then I got a second wind, and finally got around to a final mix. Oddly, I think the hardest part for me was the file management. There were so many clips, many that I had surgically messed with from the material sent to me, that it got somewhat overwhelming. But this is a normal hurdle for me as I am very scatter-brained these days about where files end up. It's really mucking things up, and I need to quit being so sloppy with files because it's making back-ups a pain. |
