Sync'ing tempo with MIDI controllers

I've been having difficulty sync'ing the tempo of Bitwig Studio 2.0 with MIDI controllers.
I have two main controllers - Native Instruments Maschine Jam and M-Audio Trigger Finger Pro - that I use with a MacBook Pro and a Windows 10 desktop respectively.
Although I have managed to link the transport buttons of these controllers to Bitwig and can use their pads to play BW instruments, the tempo does not sync.
I read in this forum that Bitwig does not receive external MIDI clock but it can transmit the same.
I assume there must be some way to control Bitwig's tempo with an external controller, though?
What steps do I need to follow so that adjustments to tempo from an external MIDI controller will be reflected in the tempo of the Bitwig sequencer?
