Have been trying the brand new TB reverb v4 today and wondering what people think about it?
Is it the same level as Valhalla for instance?

I must admit I don't know much about effects including reverb. Usually I just pick a factory preset of my TB v3 and maybe change the tail or the low/high-cut of the reverb a bit, that's it. I am not so sure I know what to listen for when comparing reverbs. The only obvious thing I dislike is metallic tails like with Sylenth1's built-in reverb.

The TB reverb has some nice extras, the LFO and equalizer in particular. Can I use them to emulate a shimmer reverb? If so, how?

Disappointed that there's no control over modulation and that there's no explicit length control. On the other hand, it's an amazing feature set for the price.

You mean the tail length? There's the Size parameter, which, as far as i understood it, affects both room size, and tail length ( i could be wrong, but, it surely affects the tail).

Regarding comparisons with other reverbs, i think that it sounds pretty nice, version 3 already sounded great. I haven't A/B'd them, but, surely didn't seem like it lost on quality. IMO, definitely in the league of the Valhalla verbs, if not better. I must admit that i'm not a big fan of those though. But, if you're looking for a clean "room" type reverb, i think that TB-Reverb surely does the job nicely. Gotta familiarize with the added options still though.

v3 had tail length and size as separate parameters. Plus you could switch off the modulation. I suppose the T60 control is a kind of length control, though. If you raise up the nodes higher, you can get longer tails.

A quick test would seem to indicate that the same reverb algorithm is being used in both, which is understandable as it's pretty decent.

Why cant you turn off the modulation? One of the available modulator types is "disabled".

I see now that the LFO section takes care of modulation. Specifically the Mix Delay parameter gives you a traditional modulation effect. It's very powerful, in its slightly quirky way.

So guys, does it have a length control or it doesn't? Thinking of buying here...
The plugin has some essential controls, like gate, modulation matrix, visible eq. Something you won't find in every reverb plugin. These features are enough to buy it instantly. But how are the algorithms? How it compares to, for instance, valhalla reverbs (the only reverbs I've got (and RP-Verb)?

Why do you need another reverb? fluffy? Igro? Beats me. Guys who use only presets and can't tell by listening if it's any good or not, guys who don't know anything about it - even if it's working properly - yet ready to jump, wallets out, palms sweating with excitement.

If it beats you why one would need another reverb, then it's maybe time to do your homework.

IMO it's a very good reverb. Love the modulations.

From the product page:

> Reverberation time can be sculpted as a function of frequency

Sounds interesting. Checking out the demo now but the upgrade price kinda makes it a no-brainer with this updated feature set.

FWIW, all parameters come with tooltips when you hover your mouse over them, so, if anything should be unclear, you can read up on it.

I like the new TB 4 reverb so I bought it, even though I have VVV and some others. I like that it has graphic EQ and it's a clean sounding reverb. Good for piano, vocals, etc. Sure I could have used VVV but I just like to have that graphic EQ because it's easier to visualize the result that way than just using knobs.

I don't need another reverb, but since there is a bargain upgrade path, I am naturally interested in the advantages of v4. So far I am indeed content with v3 and have not updated, not sure I ever will.
I do hear when a reverb sounds pleasant and clean, but I am indeed no specialist when it comes to comparing reverbs in detail, my criteria (pleasant, clean) are too broad and not scientific enough, so to speak.

TB Reverb v4 has been updated; besides a few minor fixes, it has a new 'freeze' function :-)
