Simple question: Is there any way to use the MIDI In jack but USB out?

Sorry, no. They run at different speeds so only one of them can be used at a time.

I have a drum controller that transmits on MIDI channel 10. If I connect directly and receive midi with my iPad on channel 10, no problems. If I connect via Linnstrument, no sound. Even stranger is that the corresponding lights shine on the LS when I play notes on drum controller. But no sound from source... Ideas?

I think you are expecting LinnStrument to automatically reroute incoming MIDI data to its MIDI output like a MIDI THRU jack, correct? If so, LinnStrument can do this for the round MIDI jacks but not for USB MIDI. To learn how to do this, see the Panel Settings page, Global Settings tab, then search for "MIDI Thru".

Ah, midi thru is a hidden setting. Found it, thanks!
