I just finished a new song called "Mystery lake".
It is a little bit diffrent from my usual electronic music.
It made an experiment in orchestral film music style.
Here it is:

Feedback is welcome!

- I like it starting from the flute section @ 1:14. The opening with the pick-bass is a nice sound but the string synth doesn't seem to work.
- The section @ 2:01 works well. Sounds like a James Bond movies soundtrack. I can see him scaling a mountainside.
EDIT - My compliments to the horn arranger, not to mention the strings, are very well done! Bravo!
- The section @ 2:52 works well also, but should come down dynamically to a more quiet introspective tone. Then build it up again for a finale.
EDIT - Now I feel it might work better if you muted the pick-bass and drums in this section.
- The tempo could have been better...variations in the right places...on the beat when it wasn't.
EDIT - I now notice how much 'breathing' is audible. Maybe less limiter w/slower release? You also don't need that much saturation and gain in a soundtrack piece I think. It's sorta on the edge, but I feel it's overdone.
This has a style I can easily recognize as your own sound. What makes it that sound I don't know.
Most of it worked as soundtrack. You say you were after that, so you were successful there.
I'd like to put this through my hw multieffects-processor and try for that processed 'movie' sound just for fun.

Hello annode,
I just finished a new version of the song. I tried to realize most of your tips:
1. other strings at the beginning
2. I have changed the tempo from 79 bpm to 85 bpm.
3. an additional harpsichord
4. small variations in the melody
5. Other drums at the end
6. some other small changes
7. less limiting in the mastering
8. mystery drums at the beginnig and the end
Thank you for your valuable tips!
Here is the new version:

Nice, I like it overall, although I prefer to make it into a kind of "middle earth movie" soundtrack, so go only with the orchestra sounds. But it's just preference. Again, nice work!
