Multi-touch finger touch and mouse pointer incompatibility! Weird!

Hello,

I am just returning to making music and really like the Xotopad!! The Xotopad works great with my Multi-touch monitor.

I am however having an issue with the mouse pointer. When the mouse pointer is on another application and then I touch the Xotopad the mouse pointer jumps to the touch point. Actually if I touch anywhere on the multi-touch screen (with Xotopad not open) the mouse pointer jumps to the touch point.

I understand that the first finger touch is converted to a mouse event. Is there a way to fix this? I often am editing a plugin or a DAW while touching the Xotopad. Very irritating to constantly have to return the mouse pointer to the location of where I was editing.

I have spent hours for an answer but as they say “no cigar”. The mouse pointer and the finger touch are linked. Now how to de-couple them, make them independent with one another.

Calling all multi-touch users that also use a mouse to
check out if this is also an issue with you.

Got the EVANPO E3 touchpad and seems to work well but did not solve my mouse/touch problem as stated on the OP. This works like a mouse apperently uses the mouse driver. It works on both of my screens. https://www.ebay.com/itm/EVANPO-E3-2-4G ... 2749.l2649 ]

I need to find an economical touchpad smaller than the Huion that works with the finger touch and does not require a stylus.

I may also try a touch mouse and see if it helps.

Tried Pluralinput https://pluralinput.com/ but did not help.

Pff annoying, what about the other programs promising dual mice?

I guess this should be solved by Microsoft inside of windows.

Tried the following without success
Appymouse

Touchmousepointer

Eithermouse
https://www.eithermouse.com/
Tried the Gyration mouse but that did not help.
Tried using USB hubs and no luck.

I have many promising links but cannot tell if they will be useful because they are beyond my technical abilities.

So weird that none of those dedicated programs worked ... .

The stylus pointer from a graphic tablet Wacom or Huion is independent or decoupled from the Multi-touch pointer. It seems that pointing devices that use absolute positioning have an independent pointer from multi-touch monitor pointer.

The graphic tablet works but is not a solution that I can use. I really want a mouse or trackball pointer that is totally independent from the finger touch pointer that is used on a multi-touch monitor.

Tried TeamPlayer 2.2 the mouse was independent from the touch pointer (or cursor) but other issues were bad. https://teamplayer.en.uptodown.com/wind ... nload/4423. Try it as it may work for you.

I believe I may have found an answer to my pointer issue.

1. Get a low priced, 4” to 8” Android Tablet.

2. Get an app that allows the Android Tablet to be used as a graphics tablet. I will most of the time use my finger to navigate. I hope multi-finger gestures will work with this app.

3. Connect the Android Tablet to my Windows 10 PC using the USB ports.

4. So now the question is which Android Tablet to get and which App to use.

5. It is not essential to mirror the PC monitor image to the Android Tablet, but it would be nice.

The reason this may work is that the Wacom and Huion graphic tablets solve the pointer problem however I do not want to use a stylus to navigate but instead use my finger.

All suggestions will be appreciated.

I think you will still have only 1 pointer.

That's ok just as long the pointer doesn't jump to the finger touch.
See OP.

I am considering a few graphics tablets that come with a mouse that runs on top of the tablet. I understand that that the mouse on the tablet can work in either the absolute or the relative mode. If mouse works in absolute mode then it may solve the mouse/touch issue. It seems that pointer devices that are in absolute mode are completely independent from a mouse pointer.

Not sure if some of the older tablets work in Window 10 64bit.

I am wondering if using a gaming mouse and I assume that they use proprietary drivers might help resolve the mouse/touch issue. The standard Windows mouse diver obviously does not help and may be the cause of the mouse/touch problem.

I am in the middle of getting a new music computer and so have not tried the above post solution. But getting a new mouse driver may will be the best solution. Keep in mind that the Huion and Wacom graphic tablet driver solve the mouse/touch issue but cumbersome to use in an audio environment.

So if you have a gaming mouse and a multi-touch screen please check if touching the screen moves the mouse pointer to the finger touch location.

The mouse pointer and the finger touch are linked. Just the way it is...

That is on Windows and by default. It works that way for legacy reasons I guess, but this behaviour is app-dependant. Within the app if it supports mouse+touch, then you can use both at the same time. Bitwig is one such app, but more often you can find this feature in Chromium based browsers.

Bear in mind that even if you use 2 apps that support multi-touch and mouse combo input, by clicking on one of the windows it will be forced in focus and the other one goes in background. It will not matter if windows are side by side, but if one is on top of the other, then as soon as you click on larger window, it will hide the other one behind. This might be overriden with 3rd party apps that add ability to make certain windows always on top.
