im running bitwig 2 with native komplete 11. i've just pre ordered the komplete kontroll the other day but now im having doubts as i dont know how well it will integrate with bitwig.
i am now thinking of cancelling the order and buy another controller instead.
does anyone have any recommendations for a controller that works well with bitwig 2
i need to know asap so i can cancel my order if i have to
thanks

There's no reason the S series controller should not work as well as any other controller when it comes to using its 8 knobs to control plugins (provided they are mapped) as there is a generic script for that. The big question is whether someone will step up to make an updated script that harnesses the buttons and additional DAW integration features it has. My guess is that will happen though at some point, Bitwig and NI both have a vested interest in making this happen, as does the user community itself which often drives these things.

Push controller works excellent with Bitwig using the push4bitwig script.

I'm quite happy with using a Launchpad midi and an Akai MPK mini mk2.
The Launchpad for launching clips and triggering loop recording. The MPK mini for controlling transport, tweaking parameters.

Well, maybe start by telling us a bit more about your workflow and style of music? Can you play the keyboard? Do you want to tweak parameters a lot? Do you play / perform live? Are you working mainly in Arrangement or in Clip Launcher? etc. All of those are crucial for choosing a controller.Housebrigade wrote:does anyone have any recommendations for a controller that works well with bitwig 2

I don't know about best since I don't have much to compare it to, but I'm happy with my Nektar Impact LX49+. It has good integration with Bitwig and it's high quality for the money. I bought it specifically since they advertised Bitwig integration and they delivered. Apparently their Panorama series is even better.

Agree, but on the flipside - for an unknown reason - modulators, layered editing, grouping groups or bounce-in-place doesn't seem to work for me in Live... Seriously, though. Isn't it obvious that a controller designed for specific DAW will not work to 100% of its abilities in any other software?

i mainly make techno, love making beats and experimenting with samples and mangling them.
basically i want to use my mouse as less as possible and just have that hands on feel controlling bitwig and my vst's.
im running bitwig with native komplete 11 and iris 2

Well, in that case maybe instead of a regular keyboard you should look at something like Novation Launchpad Pro, that has great custom script for Bitwig? It allows you to play instruments & drums, control devices, jam with your arrangement and mix: https://us.novationmusic.com/launch/launchpad-pro. To be ideal it only misses some knobs, but you can always add this https://store.djtechtools.com/products/ ... er-twister or this https://us.novationmusic.com/launch/launch-control-xl. I think it would suit techno better, not to mention both would probably be cheaper than Kontrol...Housebrigade wrote:i am pretty new to bitwig, after using cubase for years i fancied a change and different workflow.i mainly make techno, love making beats and experimenting with samples and mangling them.basically i want to use my mouse as less as possible and just have that hands on feel controlling bitwig and my vst's. im running bitwig with native komplete 11 and iris 2

a touchscreen!!! it's amazingly integrated.... especially since the new note on screen they introduced in the new beta.. i bought a 27" multitouch screen instantly... and so far it feels hands on immersed into the programm... of course some people need the feel and feedback of a real controller... but with a touchscreen you not only playing notes or twist a knob, you play the daw constantly by modulating, routing, xy pad, fader, and so on.... thanks to claes (i think) and microsoft to make this happen...
Everyone knows more than I do...

Really? I tried couple of times - on Surface Pro 4 - and it really is clunky, especially the radial menu: you press something with one finger and then the options around it show up, but when you want to choose something from the outer ring you need to use other finger. Most of the times it's simply physically impossible because your palm interferes and you need to do some wierd hand-bending to get there with other finger. I wish they'd simply allow - when the rings appear - to just move the finger to one of the options, be it in the inner or the outer ringoperator wrote:a touchscreen!!! it's amazingly integrated.... especially since the new note on screen they introduced in the new beta.. i bought a 27" multitouch screen instantly... and so far it feels hands on immersed into the programm... of course some people need the feel and feedback of a real controller... but with a touchscreen you not only playing notes or twist a knob, you play the daw constantly by modulating, routing, xy pad, fader, and so on.... thanks to claes (i think) and microsoft to make this happen...
Also, the volume faders or sends are still way too small to comfortably use touch there. Hope they're re-sizeable soon.

I believe the key information was '27" multitouch screen'... That is probably what makes it work, since the Surface Pro 4 is at 13.1".antic604 wrote:Really? 27'' monitor is rougly 4x the screen of Surface Pro 4 in terms of footprint, so indeed you may have a point there. However, Bitwig advertises their DAW with Surface Pro computers:Excds wrote:I believe the key information was '27" multitouch screen'... so they should really figure this out, at least as an option.
I'm collecting my touch-UI complaints & feature requests to send them to support@bitwig.com
