Postby Googly Smythe; Sat Nov 18, 2017 10:31 am Low Tide At Ramsgate - Googly Smythe (new "mixes")

Influenced by, but sounding nothing like, the reggae dub plate specials from the 80s. (Still sounds like 1968, though! :D )

(A while ago I uploaded a snippet of a track with this title - but that snippet is no more.)

https://soundcloud.com/googly-smythe/lo ... gly-smythe

Drums: GrooveAgent;
Bass, keys, pad: HALion 5;
Guitars: Shreddage;
Brass: EastWest (2 trumpets, trombone, alto, tenor and baritone saxes).

TG12345s, REDDs, PuigChilds scattered all over the place. Various BX guitar sims, Satin, VintageVerb. RS56 and XL on the stereo out (master).

Relax and enjoy! :party: :tu:

From a post further down...
I don't know if any of you have this problem (amongst others), but I often come to a crossroads in the composition process and can't make up my mind which way to go. For this track I actually made 3 versions, concurrently, switching between them, copying and pasting changes made in the one to another. I chose to post the short (7" single) version. These are what I term the 12" (of the 7") and the "club" version. Although that last is a misnomer because it's a mongrel of a track - elements of dance, rock, pop and reggae. :o
All made with the same plugins and processing.
Enjoy!

That was definitely enjoyable!
Great production. Multi-layered with so much interest.
This has a nice positive vibe. Put a smile on my face.

(if I may comment on the mix, it's slightly dipped in the mids...)

Sorry for being tardy, but thanks for liking. That dip in the mids is a deliberate mixing choice, not an oversight. It was a bit on the muddy side... :tu:

Check out the other 2 versions I did at the same time (plug plug).

See next post...
