Just came across this article from Magnetic Mag, sharing the overuse of samples in tracks. The subject title is an excerpt from the article. What are your thoughts? Is there a line that's crossed where it's just not your material anymore?

I cut-and-pasted all the words in this sentence from an online dictionary.

Sarah Cubicle would be a great name for a character in a reality where Charles Dickens writes animated shorts in the 21st century.

I was going to copypaste a response about this article from another thread. Then I remembered I couldn't be arsed to write it for that thread either.

so, the article suggest that electronic music is becoming cut and paste...
let us assume we are talking the dance music end of electronic music? (haven't read the article, just the title in the op)
now let us assume its true (don't really listen to much recent dance music, past the early 2000s say) it does tend to happen with most mainstream genres.
maybe electronic dance music its easier to see because its just samples, but as soon as a money making formula is hit upon, there are many copy cat artists out there.
what it leads to eventually is boredom and rebellion, which then brings something newer for teenagers to call their own (even if the new is a modern twist on an old, it is often different enough to become its own thing, eg death metal spawned out of the earliest heavy metal, black sabbath type stuff...)

i copied and pasted this reply from the future using a quantum super computer.

Most popular music I've heard from recent years is shit anyways. It has this homogenous similar lameness that is independent of whether the artists (term used loosely) involved used the same samples or not.

Repent, for the end is nigh.
A well-behaved signature.
