Hi here,
As title says, I'm on the way to buy an used receptor 1 rev b, and I've got some miscellenious questions that maybe someone nice here could answer : - how much do you think it still worth ? (in Europe) - I may need to use some plugins I've made with synthedit, will it work ? - The plugins I've made in synthedit are only made to do some changes to the incoming midi notes or controllers it don't works good on cubase until I put some audio outputs (wich are not even wired in the plugin architecture...). Is it possible to route the MidiOut of one plugin to the MidiIn of another plugin ? - what the Adat plug is made for ? Is it allows you to use for exemple the 8 audio outputs of kontakt in a stage mixer (assuming the stage mixer has an adat too)? -sorry if it was already discuss here but what the real advantage of receptor 1.c compared to 1.b ? - can I use my own samples in kontakt 3 inside this receptor ? -Is this version of receptor is compatible with uniwire ? Thanks a lot, Sylvain |

Hi Sylvan,
I don't have any response about how much this is still worth. Regarding synthedit plugs - I've loaded many synthedit based plugs on Receptor that install (as 'Unsupported Plugs') and run just fine. Of course, this isn't a given. Someone could build a synthedit plug that crashes receptor, just like any other computer. O-PX pro II is a good example of a Synthedit based plug that runs well on Receptor. Regarding routing midi-out from a plug into another plug -- No, Receptor's architecture does not allow for this. Yes, you can use your own samples in Kontakt on Receptor. You can edit a Kontakt patch to point to an audio file. I've used Redmatica KeyMap Pro for making Kontakt patches with my own samples. Uniwire can be available on a Receptor 1, based on what level of the MuseOS is on the hardware. I think it was available after 1.3 or 1.4. Hope this helps, Kevin L |

Thanks Looneytunes, it helps a lot.

Yes, you can use your own samples in Kontakt on Receptor. So I don't need synthedit anymore... But now I will have to deal with script in Kontakt, this will be tricky. Can you or anyone else confirm that I can use script in kontakt to make changes to the incomming midi using a receptor ? Quote: You can edit a Kontakt patch to point to an audio file
Don't really understand what it means... But I've never create any instrument in kontakt, only on Battery 3, which I think has not the same logic. Quote: I've used Redmatica KeyMap Pro for making Kontakt patches with my own samples.
Thanks, I need to test this thing. |

Can you or anyone else confirm that I can use script in kontakt to make changes to the incomming midi using a receptor ? Hi again, I haven't changed the scripting within Kontakt, myself. However, I have run scripted Kontakt instruments on Receptor. Some examples of scripted instruments: Orange Tree Samples guitars, Native Instruments various kontakt instruments (like the scarbee libs), Ilya Effimov Guitars. In any case - these can work on Receptor, and I know that they do with recent Kontakts on recent Muse OS's. That said, for a Receptor 1, I'm not sure what the most recent version of Kontakt/Komplete that was evaluated on Receptor 1 (eg. with a recent Muse OS, like 1.8 ). I'm guessing that there has been some level of Kontakt with some level of KSP scripting support on this level of HW/SW. Do you know what the Muse OS level of the machine is that you wish to buy? Is Kontakt already on that machine, and do you know which version? Probably knowing this will tell you more about what you will be able to do with the scripting. Good Luck, Kevin L |

System version is 1.7.20080616,
Komplete 5 already installed, so it's kontakt 3. I may have to check if this version allows for script editing. Thanks again |

Unfortunatly, Redmatica has gone out of business last mounth... What really was the interest in redmatica compared to making our own instrument directly inside kontakt ? Is there another soft that does the same thing ? |

I tried Redmatica, simply because it got great reviews, and I had a few samples I wanted to turn into Kontakt instruments. I haven't ever done this completely from scratch in Kontakt, but I'm sure it could be done.
Hmmm - off the top of my head, I'm not sure if there were any direct competitors to Redmatica. Chicken Systems 'Translator' does conversions from one format to another (eg. Akai -> Kontakt). I have taken an existing Kontakt instrument, and gone into Kontakt's Keymap editor, and replaced an existing sample with my own sample. This was not too hard to do, and it may be a good starting point for doing more sophisticated things. Hope this helps, Kevin L |

Thanks again Looney,
I will have to dig into the kontakt manual in the next weeks... |
