Aodix REQUIRES ASIO driver.
If you have problems at startup, they're probably ASIO initialization related. There'll be a debug version soon available for download to those of you with ASIO / software initialization problems. I suggest also use Asio4ALL drivers ( www.asio4all.com ) if you have WDM card (WinXP required) with no native ASIO drivers. |

Hi Arguru, long time fan since some of your earlier tracker stuff I only glanced at the site, but on the surface this looks fantastic. If it can emulate any of the brilliance of Buzz's pattern sequencing system (this would be great) and provide a stable VST host with Multi-out support then you have a winner on your hands I'll give this a test drive when i have time, very busy right now |

Just had a quick go, seems very smooth and stable (using KX ASIO drivers). I seem to be getting lower CPU loads (with the same instruments/effects) than in Aodix 3.
A few questions: is the mixer section from Aodix 3 hidden somewhere, or at least a master level control? Also, the contents of my VST folder seem to be in random order - is there some way of alphabetising the list? Noticed also that it runs off the side of the screen (in 1280 x 1024 resolution) so there are some plugins I can't access. All in all, looks like a great package! |

this is awesome. some suggestions and observations:
- there need to be a lot more hotkeys (zooming +-, block selection with keyboard) with ability to customize them. - emu 1212 driver crashes aodix. - any plans for curve automation ? - i think moving objects with quantize should be reversed (ctrl+move turns off quantization) or a toggle should be used. - duplicate object with mouse. - how about transposing objects by click&drag in the middle ? or using mouse wheel for transposing (another editing mode maybe?) - wires have no volume, send fx can not be used ? - once cursor is within a pattern call block, hotkey for going to that pattern and back - create a new pattern from block selection - duplicate pattern call object x times - make pattern used in a patter call unique. duplicate the pattern and change the call number. summary edit, some more stuff: - delay in ms or samples for instruments (needed for midi out and dsp cards) - set start and end to block selection. - hotkey for selecting instrument under cursor. toggle: auto select instrument under cursor. - zoom in could go even further (1:96) for more global overview - scrolling up and down (when moving object off the screen) doesn't seem to be continuos. difficult to rearrange stuff like that. - delete by clicking on an object. left + right MB maybe. |

Quote: there need to be a lot more hotkeys (zooming +-, block selection with keyboard)
All keys are documented in manual. For Block Start / End selection just use Ctrl+B and Ctrl+E. Quick-Keys for zooming coming in next version! (I thought also of Ctrl+Mousewheel for this task) Quote: any plans for curve automation ?
Nope, automation is handled via events (again: check manual =) ). It's just as easy as enable 'AUT' in Audio Master section, (ensure LIVE is enabled also), press play and tweak from the vst parameters list of plugin's editor interface on the fly, all will be recorded. But automation events 'drawing' via mouse is coming also. Quote: i think moving objects with quantize should be reversed (ctrl+move turns off quantization) or a toggle should be used. It works this way: u move events with mouse, and if Ctrl is pressed, the object get quantized when it's "released". Quote: how about transposing objects by click&drag in the middle ? or using mouse wheel for transposing (another editing mode maybe?)
Well, selecting a block and use Ctrl+F1/F2 for transpose notes is a pretty fast way. (You can even tranpose velo with Ctrl+F3/F4). Ctrl+Q quantizes notes in a block. Quote: wires have no volume, send fx can not be used ?

Poiting to manual again =). In aodix, all DSP is handled by plugins. To create Sends/Aux schemes just use the Mix2To4 plugin included. Quote: once cursor is within a pattern call block, hotkey for going to that pattern and back
Quote: create a new pattern from block selection
Both Great ideas! Quote: duplicate pattern call object x times Selecting a block (using Ctrl+B/E quickkeys) and pressing paste (ctrl+v) does the job pretty fast. It's just about some training. Quote: is there any info already how the license payment will be organised
Orders will be handled via Share-it. I'll send user/key via e-mail. Quote: zoom in could go even further (1:96) for more global overview I take note. Quote: delete by clicking on an object. left + right MB maybe. Right mouse button is never used in aodix. But I'll look for some alternative for this. |

Request : Ability to choose Several directories for 'VSTPlugins Directory' |

I had a quick go last night and it seems promising, however the decision to save disable the demo is not a good one in my view...why not do what Renoise did and disable the renderer instead? At least that way any promising ideas that happen while test driving the program won't be lost and can then be continued if a licence is purchased. |

I Think its a good idea to find an alternative to disabling the save song option. That way you could give users time to "Fall inlove" with the program. |

Another Aodix Feature Request :
To have the VST Instance browser not display files which aren't VST Plugins. Example : If you browse to a korg legacy directory it'll show you some extra .dll which in fact aren't VST plugins. Thats confusing sometimes to find the VST plugin dll among other .dll which are not VST related. |

i mean marking an area for transposing. >>> Nope, automation is handled via events (again: check manual =) yes. i prefer drawing curves. it seems faster >> It works this way: u move events with mouse, and if Ctrl is pressed, the object get quantized when it's "released". yea, but quantize is used more often (?) so it should be the default without ctrl key. most sequencers have snap toggle which i think is better. //edit: actually, the way this works now is ok >>>Well, selecting a block and use Ctrl+F1/F2 for transpose notes is a pretty fast way. (You can even tranpose velo with Ctrl+F3/F4). Ctrl+Q quantizes notes in a block. >>>duplicate pattern call object x times [/quote] >>>Selecting a block (using Ctrl+B/E quickkeys) and pressing paste (ctrl+v) does the job pretty fast. It's just about some training. it's all faster as long as keyboard is used only. when using a mouse going back to keyboard is quite slow I use SX and i guess im after the same functionality. Things like spliting, gluing, ghost copies, muting, duplicating - a full blown arranger. any plans for a piano roll ? horizontal bar behind a note could be used for editing velocity. |

Thats confusing sometimes to find the VST plugin dll among other .dll which are not VST related. This involves scan and pre-cach the dll files and store the database info in a file (that way avoids rescan everytime program is launched), then also a user manual refresh feature to update list when installing new plugins. For now, this wont be implemented. I prefer the program without annoying plugin scannings and manual refreshes at expense of having potentially non-vst dlls in directories, plus a very fast boot time wich makes also very useful as test-host for developers. Well, disable renderer is nearly disable nothing, because you can use perfectly a VST plugin stream file-writer device to rendered without any quality loss. About disable loading. Well, I prefer the unregistered version be able to open projects. (adx demo and example files, etc) wich i'll post soon. |

I know this is probably in the manual, but I couldn't figure it out. I load a midi song into Aodix. Now, how do I assign different VSTs to different columns? |
