Hi,

I heard many people here describe the PSP Nitro plugin as the plugin of the year, or even better, the best plugin ever.

I downloaded a demo and gave it a test run. I mainly want to record vocals and guitar, but i found no use to me for this plugin, unless i am missing something, wich might be the case.

So i was wondering, since i was not able to do nothing with it, what are YOU guys doing with the plugin that makes it so good?

Can you please post maybe some sound samples, and presets you guys are using?

Thanks all! Smile

I'm curious too... I'd particularly like to hear how people are using the filter. I liked a lot of the other effects it could do, and I love the sound of PSP plugins in general, but as a filter I find QuadFrohmage or Classic Auto-Filter have a lot more character. And of course there are myriad other filter plugins, free or commercial.

here´s my report ..

soundquality: this alone makes it a winner to me. such an "expensive" sound, at least to my ears. top notch hi-fi .. Smile

as i´m not you´re so-called filter-freak i see the Nitro as an effects-monster, like a multi-effect unit. I just tweak the parameters here and there, and the sound coming out just makes me wowow.
And: i can use it on whatever i want to use it on .. and not only for drastic effects. it can also work very well in a subtle way ..

its the best effect-plugin ever, to me.

What Herr Doktor Putte said. It's the sound. It really is unique and classy.

Ditto. The moog filters are lovely. I'm not sure how "accurate" they are, but they sound awesome to my ears.

If I was doing voice and guitar (singer/songwriting?) - I probably wouldn't find any use for it either. But as a highly flexible and slightly experimental filter/modulizer effect it's most definitely useful.

...and it makes great sound too! Smile

and of course it's not a filter plugin Wink

i prefer ohmforce filters, they definately have more character.

but nitro has a lot of units and endless combination possibilites.
filter, distortion, delay, modulation... and all that can be routed very flexible.

for extreme mayhem or subtle effects, it works on everything and the envelope follower is the best i've ever seen...

It's a great plugin for sure, and if I had been less skint I might have bought it in the group buy (and hope to one day). But can I hear an example of the filters sounding good? Particularly at high resonance. When I turned the Nitro filters (any of them) up to high resonance it sounded very thin to me.

And yes, ohm filters are "fatter," but nitro seems (and I don't use this term loosely) "warmer." It dampens the highs in a way that makes stuff more pleasant to listen to, at least to my ears. I like the comb filter a lot too; it's great for drum fills; not too overpowering.

Fair play, I'd still like to hear an example though. It always seems to come up in "best filter?" threads and I've yet to hear evidence of why. That was supposedly it's main purpose. But yeah, the other effects (which are excellent) more than make up for any shortcomings in the filtering. So I'll belt up now HiHi

It's one of those "immediate gratification" plugins that excels in sound quality.

It's easy to use.. there are many routing options for the 4 operators.. there are many many different types of filters and other effects such as a phaser, a bit crusher, a waveshaper that you can assign to each 4 operators.. The LFO graphical representation is awesome.. the effects sync to host..

1: The sound: Awesome.

2: Ease of use. The interface is very intuitive, well laid out and immediately makes sense. It took me 5 minutes to understand how the plugin works, without a manual... It's very fun to use, which is a very important factor to me..

You get results quickly: you don't have to tweak for 1/2 hour to get a good effect..

I love Quadfrohmage as well. I am happy I have both. Nitro is more than a filter plugin. It's a multi-effects unit that seems to specialize in filters ( because it has a lot more filters than anything else )

Quadfrohmage and Nitro both excel in the filter department in their own way. I am happy I have both, and still plan on using both. The ohmforce sound.. well.. I love it.. it always distinguishes itself from any other similar effect available on the market but I absolutely do not regret getting nitro. I have yet to use it in a project, but I know I will.. I have been having too much fun playing with it..
