Hi, first post on this forum so i thought i'd give you a link to some free orchestral samples. This may have been mentioned before, but i don't think its on the sticky post at the top.
http://www.philharmonia.co.uk/thesounde ... libraries/
I read about it in the Sunday Times today. they are royalty free and 16 bit wav or aiff files. I'm not too sure of the quality as i havent gone through them yet, but they may well be useful and there is a huge range to choose from.

When you get finished downloading and downloading, send the package to me, and I will upload them for all .
Especially if you've sliced everything up and mapped out into sfz format!

looking at the site, i noticed that the samples are, most of them, in mp3 format. Said this, the articulations sections look very interesting.

maybe one of you pros can download the MP3s, resample to WAV, then put into a soundfont for us 'fonters. I'd do it but I think it may violate some copyright restrictions and I'm a coward. At least where the RIAA is concerned. You, on the other hand, appear fearless. I envy you.
It's better to burn out...than it is to um..to um...well, something, anyway...

I love to map and be glad to do it, if someone wants to spend the time downloading this mess, what a pain in the ass, one at a time?....there's got to be a direct link? It's just not worth the time but I'd love to here the whole package when put together....I'll sf and nki if you get those mp3s.

It is not the most user friendly way to download is it? Pity, as there is the whole orchestra to choose from. You would think that they could offer packs by instrument or section. Maybe they are just a bit worried about bandwidth...who knows.
They state that they don't mind sharing the files with friends, the only thing you are not allowed to do with them is to sell them, so there wouldn't be a problem with convertng them to wav. Perhaps a few emails to them might convince them to offer download packs instead, might be easier all round.

Wow, some nice stuff
Those of you after orchestral strings, another link :
http://www.notam02.no/9/
This is Beethoven's 9th Symphony, stretched out to 24 hours and pitch corrected (!) - some amazing long, slow string textures here, great for sampling. available for download in 83 minute mp3 chunks!

cheers for the direct link it is a shame about the quality.
I'll email them to see if they would realease the original wavs if they have them.
Edit: someone else asked on their forum about this, i don't know if it was one of you.
They are planing on releasing packs and high quality aiff samples of the instruments. So wait till then, i'll keep an eye on it and give you a heads up
