for $250. It's a hella beast to program, so if anyone can recommend a good software editor, I would appreciate that.
But other than that, it's a joy to play. I've found several different banks with some excellent patches, and the sound is very warm. It's odd that single patches only play in mono. But I've figured out a workaround of making a multi using the same patch twice and getting the sound in stereo. I'm also having a hard time getting longer release times.
If anyone can suggest some patches or tips or whatever, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I got ma a Matrix 6r and a matrix 1000, there ia a program called Matrix 2001 and it works pretty good, even has a sequencer which makes for some great bass and lead sequences.

I went to the site that I purchased it from and it was down for some reason (I bought it less than six months ago for very little money)
You can also get the midiquest program (bit expensive) or the single synth version called Uniquest (I have this also) it is a bit more complex and has some good qualities but I prefer the Matrix 2001 app for it straightforwardness.
http://www.squest.com/Macintosh/Instruments/matrix1000/
There is some good resources found here for the Matrix 6/6r/1000 synths
http://www.synthzone.com/ober.htm
If you can find one cheap enough Acess made a controller specifically for the Matrix 6 called the Access Matric programer. I hear these work very well. May be hard to find tho. Not sure if they still make them.
Hope this helps

Alternatively, if you want to go the free route…
Because I started using Dr. T’s Caged Artist’s synth editing software on an Atari computer long ago, I have been quite happy using an Atari emulator on my PC
( http://steem.atari.st/ ) to allow me to use the Matrix Six Editor (available for free download from Tim’s Atari Midi World: http://tamw.atari-users.net/cage_art.htm ). If you go that route, be somewhat cautious. I found that right clicking the mouse crashes that program. Otherwise, it has been quite useful.
Out of curiosity, do the pitch bend and modulation paddles on your Matrix 6 work? I remember returning my new Matrix 6 to the store three or four times. Not one ever worked properly for very long. However, I’m still gigging with a Matrix 1000 after all these years.

But how do you play your matrix and run the editor at the same time (if both on same pc) ? (if no midi-multiclient audiocard)

The way the Matrix 2001 editor works is you have it hooked up with midi in/out to the Matrix and it then can be plyed with you midi keyboard controller (X-Station here) as a seperate midi in port. Works like a charm. can even change patches with the x-station but it won't work as a controler for the editor or the Matrix. That would be nice if the OB-6000 would allow my X-station to control parameters on the editor.
Not seen that program before. looks interesting. Might have to give it a try out of curiosity. HMMMM..http://www.technomusic.de/ob6000/

Nice one, Cheeso
I've had my present M-6 for almost 15 years; I can't imagine getting rid of it.
I use Sound Diver for my editor, but that's just because I got SD back when I had lots more hardware than I do now.
You'll have fun...

Thanks guys, playing with this synth has taken up good chunk of my weekend!
I tried the demo of the Matrix 2001 and can't seem to upload a bank, only one patch at a time, even from the bank manager. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I'll try to buy it later, after checking out Sound Driver.
