Heya.
1. Name Ronny 'rp' Pries 2. What synths you have worked on. Hardware: Roland JD-800, Oberheim Matrix 1000, DX7, Wasp, Nordlead, Virus, the usual suspects i bet. Software: Absynth, Albino, WNA Additive, FM7, Pro-53, Reaktor, Atmosphere, Ultrafocus, ImpOSCar, Oddity, FR Viruz-II, Invader, Filterscape... too many to list. i started using software synths in the 90s when the first realtime synths for ms-dos appeared. 3. What developers you have worked for I've been testdriving N.I. Products since Reaktor 2 and took part in shaping the sound of AudioRealism Bass Line. Other than that the synth we (Farbrausch) use in our 64k intros, which is also available as VSTi, features the presets i used in FR-019:poem.to.a.horse. 4. References You can find a few banks of mine over at patcharena.com (i.e. for FM7, WNA Additive & Triangle II). The presets of Smartelectronix' Ambience marked with 'rp' are also mine (not to be confused with Mr. Papen 5. Preffered synthesis method (if any) I can't get my hands off FM synths and the 303. 6. Any other comments about your work you would like to present. I'm working as musician & sound designer for computer games. Due to my spare time activities (beeing a dj/musician, running 2 net/labels, part of a demogroup... and last not least a family man) i don't have too much room for making preset banks at the moment. However, that's something i'd like to extend, so i'm waiting for orders 7.Contact info You can contact me via KVR or use the contact form on my website http://www.ronnypries.de |

well..
try to avoid career definition.. you got my planet, you aint gettin yer nasty fingers on my lovely squooshy brain like more hominids i have a capacity for whatever i set myself to.. clavia use a track to demo the n1, cant remember if they host patches.. so "sounddesigner.." :p i got rent to pay, but.. known for my efforts to popularise divers synthesis engines, i'm more likely to attract s.d.s than get paid for being one, sooo.... sound designers: i don't pay for shit. i have a fairly high visibility on kvr, prolly not much beyond.. but what's that ;D my synths are usually 'special application,' and given my attitude of development as cultural labour, i'm not always enthused about the 'churn out presets' part of the job - which brings me to - the same place dozens of other se devs are - we got some weird project, no recompense beyond whatever reputation to be gleaned.. and so not much chutzpah to aggressively secure your services. "hey.. i'll send you an emoticon if you do it for me..." here's an idea, prolly just making it too complex (t)ho - how about an sd mailing list (or site?) where devs can post requests.. perhaps 'specialised' energy of list.. cos it seems like posts requesting patchers aren't so acknowledged?? :p "thinking about money destroyed my thoughts" |

The only patches I have officially submitted to anything are a few Filterscape/VA presets, another few Kontakt 2 patches (only one of them actually made it into the library as I was rather late...) and various EXS24 patches.
Oh, and I converted and adjusted a few patches for the Hollowsun CDs. Doesn't make me a sound designer I think, so I won't answer things point by point. But heck, what do you expect from a guitar player? ---- There are 3 kinds of people: Those who can do maths and those who can't. |
