NAMM 2018Loopmasters announces Loopcloud 2.0

Loopmasters

Loopmasters has announced Loopcloud 2.0, a major update to their free cloud based sample service.

Here's what they say:

Loopcloud is already a leading source of sample-based inspiration for music producers everywhere, but what if you could audition sounds from a library featuring millions of samples, in any key and in time with your track, inside your DAW?

With Loopcloud 2.0, it's possible, and best of all, it's totally free.

Loopcloud 2.0 gives every producer access to 15 years' worth of Loopmasters' premium sample content in one place. In this overhaul, this and other new features have been added to Loopcloud 2.0 to make it quicker and easier than ever before to browse, manage and audition samples without ever leaving your DAW. Now you can spend more time on what matters most: making music.

Loopmasters will be showing Loopcloud 2.0 off at Winter NAMM.

Remarkably low on details, especially new ones. (Though the guy's kitchen in the video gives me a bit of nostalgia.)

The screenshots help a bit, but it's still difficult to tell what's ready for primetime. Feels like the NAMM deadline is causing a stir, especially after hearing more from the competition.

No mention of user uploads? Maybe in version 2.5?

Noiiz, Splice, Sounds.com and Loopcloud. There really is something happening in this space. Each service is different from all the others, but they all target the same overall idea. In a way, the real fun will begin when the dust settles after they hash it out.

Loopcloud is the one service which is less about getting an amazing deal and more about making the workflow more seamless. Nice to hear that synth patches will be part of it soon and that one can spend monies without leaving their DAW. But isn't this too little, too late?

At the same time, it's not like the typically slow and "tonedeaf" response of incumbents when disruption happens. Diverse people are telling you that you don't need to buy expensive sample bundles from Loopmasters (since you can get thousands upon thousands of 808-based samples and loops with an unlimited monthly subscription). The Loopmasters answer is that you can easily buy those packs. Interesting.

What no service addresses so well is the problem of organizing all the stuff we have. Those samples, patches, loops, clips, stems, etc. which are sitting on our multiple devices, often taking more more room than they should.

Being able to upload your own samples and manage everything together could help a bit. There have been mentions of this in previous Loopmasters PR. But maybe they want to focus more on the shopping cart experience.

Let's hear what they pitch during NAMM.
