Tonehammer releases Kalimba for Kontakt
12th January 2009
Tonehammer has announced the release of a new Kalimba for Kontakt.
Kalimba (Thumb Piano) is a tuned percussion instrument and a variant of the African Mbira. It's essentially a hollow wooden box with metal keys attached to it. The instrument is plucked with thumbs and the wooden box helps increase the resonance of the metal keys. Tonehammer say they took it to the next level - recording the Kalimba in four different locations for ultimate user freedom. The user can choose between dry (close-mic'd in a small, dead room), wet (small hall), wetter (big hall / close mics) and wettest (big hall - far mics).
