sonicLAB releases Cosmosƒ v2.0 - Adds "Parallel Universes"

4th October 2012

sonicLAB has released version 2.0 of Cosmosƒ, the advanced stochastic synthesizer, which features "a new paradigm in sound synthesis" called "Parallel Universes".

Previous versions offered a single universe of events distributed in a macro cell with calculated temporal mappings by the stochastic engine and then processing with the synth engine.

Cosmosƒ V2 offers a second universe running in parallel with the primary one.

The rules of creation for both of the universes are the same, but their chemistry can be different. The same stochastic engine decides the event distribution, cycle length and modulation scheme for both universes. However the synth engines are running independent.

You can define a time interval between the initiation of cycles, and change the cycle rate of the parallel cycle relative to the primary cycle in continuum, enhance the continuity and design the polyphony.

The output "buffers feedback" and "freeze" operations: With these new features it takes seconds to create rich sonic textures from simple materials. Record the Cosmosƒ output into two buffers sequentially for each universe and then feed them back recursively to the input of the universes, process them further or freeze them.

Words can explain the theory but to hear it watch the demo videos below.

Cosmosƒ costs 89€ and is a free update for existing users. It's available (also as demo version) for OS X (10.6.8 or higher) and Windows7 64-bit at www.sonic-lab.com.
