Impact Soundworks Releases "Curio: Cinematic Toy Piano" for Kontakt
5th September 2013
Impact Soundworks has released Curio: Cinematic Toy Piano, a collection of Kontakt instruments capturing a deeply-sampled toy piano that was deconstructed, prepared, designed, and processed. This sample library is designed primarily for film, TV, and game composers looking for fresh and unique timbres for their music, ranging from subtle underscore and ambient textures, to dramatic works and 'epic' trailers.
Curio features 23 patches for Kontakt 4+ that explore the full range of the toy piano (miniature grand / kinderklavier) and beyond, including post-processed, re-synthesized, and shaped sounds. In addition to mallets and plucks with numerous round robin and dynamic levels, composers can expect to hear ethereal plucks, atmospheric pads, natural and effected percussion, deep impacts, dissonant textures, tonal swells, and more.
Each patch also includes a detailed user interface with features for sound design, sculpting, and mixing; example FX include convolution reverb with multiple custom impulses, synced delay, reverb, FX, and multiple filter types. For more sound mangling and editing possibilities, the 1,400+ samples comprising Curio's sound library are available as both compressed NCW and unlocked WAV format.
