Rhythmic Robot releases Rytm16 - Vintage Analog Drum Machine with Disco Beats for Kontakt
7th May 2014

Rhythmic Robot has released Rytm16, a sampled Kontakt recreation of a late-1970s analogue drum machine from Poland.

As well as individual drum instrument hits it has 16 onboard preset rhythms (all of which have been beatsliced so they sync to host DAW tempo), and each preset has two variations. As well as typical vintage rhythm presets (slow rock, cha cha, bossa nova) the Rytm16 features five separate Disco beats, making it instantly applicable for anyone wanting to recreate classic Disco rhythms, or to reuse Disco motifs in a contemporary setting.

Rytm16 has a warm, slightly soft-edged sound, though the ride cymbals are still sharp and clear. Used solo, it is ideally suited to downtempo styles, chillout, lounge, jazz fusion, and laid-back funk; but it can also be layered with modern drum sounds to add a vintage element to a contemporary production.

Rhythmic Robot's software recreation of the original machine adds individual pan controls, MIDI velocity control, compression, saturation, distortion and a convolved vintage plate reverb, allowing the user to dial up precisely the drum sound they need.

It requires Kontakt 4.2.3 or later to run and costs £5.45 for a limited time (usual price £5.95).
