Muse Research releases v1.2 Software for Receptor

21st April 2005

Muse Research, the owner of KVR, has released the version 1.2 software update for its hardware VST plug-in player, Receptor.

The version 1.2 software adds several new features including ADAT output support that increases the number of outputs to a total of ten. Additionally, the new software features a new high-speed plug-in loading technology called "Z-Load" that dramatically reduces the amount of time required to load a plug-in. Also new to version 1.2 is a powerful MIDI mapping feature with flexible support for keyboard zones and layers, dramatically improving Receptor's functionality as a synth, sampler, and sound module.

ADAT output support increases the number of outputs to 10
Although Receptor is ideally used as a performance instrument, it is also valuable when used as an external processor in the studio. Receptor now allows you to return individual channels of audio signals back to your DAW or mixer through the ADAT outputs, providing you with complete routing control over 10 individual outputs streams. The new output routing feature also allows you to send the Effects bus assignments to their own individual outputs, allowing you to create three complete separate stereo mixes inside of Receptor, dramatically increasing its flexibility in the studio and on stage.

New MIDI mapping features enhance the sound module capabilities of Receptor
Version 1.2 software includes many new MIDI mapping features, designed with the input of Jordan Rudess, keyboardist with Dream Theater and Receptor user. These MIDI mapping features make it easy to set up multiple layers and splits in Receptor, making it an ideal tool for live performance, regardless of what music style you make.

Patent-applied-for "Z-Load" technology speeds plug-in loading
Z-Load is a new technology in Receptor that makes it possible to load plug-ins in just milliseconds, versus the several seconds or tens of seconds often required by a computer (plug-in dependant).

The full release notes can be perused here, and the version 1.2 update can be downloaded for free from Plugorama.
