Teenage Engineering announces "PO-32 tonic" Drum & Percussion Synth

19th January 2017

Teenage Engineering has announced Pocket Operator PO-32 tonic, a powerful drum- and percussion synthesizer a result of a fruitful collaboration with Magnus of Sonic Charge, creator of many audio plugins and the man behind the CWO effect in OP-1.

Unique to PO-32 tonic is its wide range of sonic capabilities, a fresh selection of new punch-in fx, a built-in microphone allowing direct transfer of sounds and pattern data between units, as well as the ability to allow users of the standard desktop version of Microtonic to shape sounds, generate new patches and pattern data, and transfer this wirelessly back to the PO-32 tonic. For the first time pocket operator users can easily import, export and share their music with the world, opening up for unlimited potential.

Features:

Magnus says "The goal with PO-32 was to squeeze the complex and highly acclaimed sound of Microtonic into a pocket operator without compromising on quality. I spent months trying out imaginative DSP solutions and counting CPU cycles in order to come up with perfectly optimized recreations of the oscillators, filters and envelopes from the original micro tonic. In the final product I'm using 99.99% of the pocket operator's CPU and memory. Developing for a proprietary piece of hardware means that you are in full control of every single bit that it runs. If the user takes good care of the unit it could literally last a life-time."

The first series of PO-32 is a limited edition for $139 that includes Microtonic AU/VST. Estimated shipping starts February 2. The next batch of PO-32 will be sold without Microtonic for $89. The second batch will start shipping first week of April.
