Jack OS X v0.75 released

25th January 2008

Jack OS X has been updated to v0.75. This new version now uses a completely new Jack server infrastructure, called "Jackdmp." This new Jack server allows for better and more efficient use of multiple processors on multi-processor machines.

Version 0.75 also introduces Mac OS 10.5.x (Leopard) compatibility for Jack OS X. Because of changes in Max OS 10.5, the functionality that previously allowed JackPilot to automatically change the Mac's default input and/or output device to the JackRouter driver, when one chose to have it do so in the preferences, has been removed. One must therefore now manually open either the Sound control panel or the Audio MIDI Setup application, and select the JackRouter driver there. This is important for those applications which do not allow you to select an audio driver themselves, and instead rely on the default system driver (e.g. iTunes, Quicktime Player, DVD Player, etc.).

The Jack OS X VST plugin is now VST 2.4-compatible. Jack OS X remains a Universal Binary application, and so continues to support both PowerPC and Intel Macintosh hardware.
