BTE Audio has extended its line of Equalization Algorithms with the BEQ3, a high performance digital equalization algorithm that simulates the sound and feel of the world-renowned British Mixing Consoles of the 1970s. With its proprietary topology, the BEQ3 algorithm simultaneously achieves both absolute sonic accuracy and extremely high processing efficiency. Targeted at desktop and embedded professional audio applications, the BEQ3 algorithm will enable "quality-conscious third-parties to incorporate the highly revered British EQ sound into their products".

BEQ3 - British Console Equaliser Algorithm

Discrete Class AB channel amplifier modules designed for British consoles in the early 1970s are characterized by their unique sonic qualities: tight and balanced low end, wide and smooth mid range and a warm yet lustrous high end. The BEQ3 Algorithm accurately and efficiently simulates these remarkable characteristics in the digital domain with its meticulously designed topology.

BEQ3 British Console Equaliser Algorithm features four bands and low pass/high pass filters which have the following specifications:

• High Pass Filter: 18dB per octave slope with five selectable cutoff frequencies: 27Hz, 47Hz, 82Hz, 150Hz and 270Hz.
• Low Pass Filter: 18dB per octave slope with five selectable cutoff frequencies: 3.9kHz, 5.6kHz, 8.2kHz, 12kHz and 18kHz.
• Low Frequency Shelving/Peaking: Selectable filter type: Shelving or Peaking. Five selectable center frequencies: 33Hz, 56Hz, 100Hz, 180Hz and 330Hz. The amount of boost or attenuation is continuously variable from -18 dB to 18 dB.
• Low Mid Frequency Peaking: Selectable 'High Q' or 'Low Q'. Ten selectable center frequencies: 220Hz, 270Hz, 330Hz, 390Hz, 470Hz, 560Hz, 680Hz, 820Hz, 1000Hz and 1200Hz. The amount of boost is continuously variable from 0 dB to 18 dB with 'High Q' and from 0 dB to 12 dB with 'Low Q'. And the amount of attenuation is continuously variable from 0 dB to -18 dB with 'High Q' and from 0 dB to -12 dB with 'Low Q'.
• High Mid Frequency Peaking: Selectable 'High Q' or 'Low Q'. Ten selectable center frequencies: 1.5kHz, 1.8kHz, 2.2kHz, 2.7kHz, 3.3kHz, 3.9kHz, 4.7kHz, 5.6kHz, 6.8kHz and 8.2kHz. The amount of boost is continuously variable from 0 dB to 18 dB with 'High Q' and from 0 dB to 12 dB with 'Low Q'. And the amount of attenuation is continuously variable from 0 dB to -18 dB with 'High Q' and from 0 dB to -12 dB with 'Low Q'.
• High Frequency Shelving/Peaking: Selectable filter type: Shelving or Peaking. Five selectable center frequencies: 3.3kHz, 4.7kHz, 6.8kHz, 10kHz and 15kHz. The amount of boost or attenuation is continuously variable from -18 dB to 18 dB.
