ChocolateAudio has announced the release of OldFunk Drum Kit, a sample library that was born out of the question: how would funk-styled drums from the '60s and '70s sound today? Sized at 773 MB, 1,895 unique samples making 5 Kick sounds, 10 Snare sounds coming from 3 different Snares, 2 Tom set sounds and a full set of cymbals make up this Download Instrument.
Lot of care was put into damping, muting and finding the right beater for the main drum kit pieces, resulting in a wide palette of sound possibilities, with applications ranging from old style funk to modern, from R'n'B to funk instrumentals, from modern jazz to dance styles.
Recorded with top notch hardware and carefully hand-edited, the OldFunk Drum Kit is available for Apple EXS24MkII, NI Battery 3, NI Kontakt 2 (via Battery format direct support), NI Kontakt 3, Ableton Samples and Drum Rack.
Pricing and Availability
A lighter version of the Old Funk drum kit was released for VI Magazine readers at the beginning of 2008. The full version of the OldFunk drum kit with 3 more Kicks, 6 more snare sounds, 1 set of damped toms and a set of damped cymbals and ride is now available for €44. An upgrade path (€14) is available to VI Magazine readers owning the VI Magazine version of this kit.
