Bolder Sounds has announced the release of the Bavarian Zither and Bavarian Zither Demo sample libraries for Kontakt 2 and 3 and EXS24 (and WAV).

Priced at $34.95 (until June 15 - then $44.95) the Bavarian Zither library is a 600 MB library comprised of 24 bit unlooped samples. The following articulations were sampled:

  • Fingerboard articulations:
    • Flesh plucked.
    • Metal finger pick.
    • Open strings.
    • Harmonics.
  • Accompaniment String articulations:
    • Flesh pluck at strings center.
    • Flesh pluck at strings bridge.
    • Metal finger pick.
    • Harmonics.

Three folders of instruments are presented in the following categories -

  1. Zither Traditional has the accompaniment strings mapped to the bass end of the keyboard and the fingerboard strings mapped to the upper region.
  2. Zither Harplike combines various layers and splits of the articulations that were sampled. Most of the instruments presented here would be impossible to create on a Zither in real time.
  3. Zither Components contains all the separate sampled parts of the Zither. These components are handy to have when using multiple instances of a software sampler in your DAW.

Also available is Bavarian Zither Demo, which is a free sample library with the bit depth reduced to 16 bits, samples have been looped, and less multi-samples have been used. This instrument combines samples from the accompaniment strings as well as the fingerboard fretted strings, with flesh of the finger plucked articulation, and is 22 MB in size.
