Swar Systems have announced the imminent release of a whole new set of instruments from North India, these will be available as standalone software, VSTi and Akai/Reason patches. They have named this new set as Volume North 2 , while the currently featured instruments are now referred to as Volume North 1.

The instruments included in this new collection are : Dhol, Naal, Duff, Dimdi, Tudd, Gunghroo, Tumbak, Duggis, Chimta, Stick-Tambourines, Israj, Banjo, Tumbi and Harmonium (new patch). A more detailed description of each instrument can be found at their instruments pages.

Volume North 2 will, as is Swar Systems' philosophy, include a large array of typical rhythms and melodies from the Indian folk/classical repertoire in MIDI and/or proprietary format that will be a much appreciated base for creating compositions from scratch.

SwarPlug Volume North 1 is is currently available for Windows and MacOS9/X as a VSTi for $170. Final release of this new, Volume North 2, collection is planned before the end of November. At that time, all Swar Systems' products will include both volumes, for a price increase of 30 US$. Registered clients will be asked the same amount to upgrade.
