Syflex has announced the release of Sylfid-f1, a new string VST instrument plug-in based on Syflex's powerful physical modeling technology.

Sylfid-f1"Although similar to a piano, the goal was not to model an existing instrument, but to create a new one." explains Syflex founder Gerard Banel. "Thanks to our fast simulation technology, we can compute the string vibrations in real-time."

Sylfid doesn't use any samples: everything is computed on the fly. This gives the freedom to change any parameter of the model, allowing to tune the instrument in many different ways, and to produce a wide variety of different sounds. For instance, it is possible to change the material the strings are made of, from plastic to metal, or adjust the shape and hardness of the hammer along with its position on the strings. All these properties can be modified on a per string basis.

Pricing & Availability

Sylfid costs $120 and is available as a VST instrument plug-in for Windows and Mac OS X.
