Mac OS XAudio Unit

apulSoft have released WormHole, a "Networking AudioUnit for your LAN" that allows you to send audio from computer to computer via a TCP/IP network.

Features:

  • Audio Unit plugin for Mac OS X.
  • Transmits audio over TCP/IP.
  • Super Low Latency on a LAN.
  • One 44 kHz Mono Channel requires 175 kBit/sec.
  • Works with any Network Interface (Ethernet, Firewire, Airport).
  • Works with any Audio Units host.
  • Can be used on a single machine to send audio between applications or to send audio between multiple computers.

WormHole costs $25 USD and a limited demo version is available with the following restrictions:

  • Only two IP addresses can be stored in the preferences.
  • There's only one WormHole channel.
  • Audio gets muted for a bit every few seconds.
  • Plugin stops working after a few minutes.

They also have the freebie DummyInst available for download which is "An AudioUnit Instrument Plugin That Does Nothing", this is to be used in combination with WormHole or any other Audio Unit which adds sound to a channel as it "Makes your DAW think something is happening".
