MakeMusic has announced the release of Finale SongBook, a free music app that enables iPad users to view, play and print electronic sheet music.
Viewing music on an iPad empowers musicians to bring thousands of pieces of music to any practice, rehearsal, or performance. SongBook's uncluttered interface is optimized for performance, leveraging all available real estate for music.
"Finale SongBook extends Finale's dominance from the desktop to the mobile world," said Karen van Lith, MakeMusic CEO. "It establishes a mobile platform on which we will build future products. Upcoming releases will expand MakeMusic's revenue stream by offering additional features and premium content on a pay-per-title basis. In addition to viewing .PDF music files, SongBook directly supports files created by MakeMusic's Finale family of music notation software. With these files Finale SongBook adds a "Play" button, allowing users to hear as well as see the music.
Finale SongBook is available as a free download from the iTunes music store.
