As soon as you can’t remember exactly what’s in your library, you need help. For Steinberg's HALion users, HAL comes o the rescue! HAL is an external Windows 9x/XP program which can run simultaneously with Steinberg Cubase.
With HAL:
- You can audition the samples in your library without having to load them first. This makes scanning your library as fast as possible. Once indexed, your entire library is auditionable via ONE central command centre.
- You can create a "Hotlist" as you audition simply by hitting a key. Then you can make "Projects" out of your "Hotlist" which you can Export or Shortcut to*. You can also make a sub Hotlist (and export sub databases) of a Hotlist. (A project is like a bank of relevant sounds.)
- You can catalogue (grade) your sample library by several criteria. Then you can SEARCH your library using that criteria to find the sounds you want.
