The Vienna Symphonic Library has announced the release of seven Extended Libraries complementing its already existing Vienna Special Edition download products. All Special Edition modules including the PLUS libraries now offer additional instruments, available at Vienna's web shop as of today:

- Special Edition Brass – Extended Library
- Special Edition Brass PLUS – Extended Library
- Special Edition Percussion & More – Extended Library
With plenty of choices users can build their special orchestra step-by-step and select their instruments from 4 Special Edition Collections (4 Standard and 4 Extended Libraries), or expand their possibilities by adding their favored PLUS Collections (3 more Standard and Extended Libraries). The purchase of any Extended Library requires the registration of the corresponding Standard Library.
What's the difference between Extended and PLUS Libraries?
The Special Edition Extended Libraries offer additional instruments. While the Standard Libraries include the basic instruments of the orchestra, the Special Edition Extended Libraries offer instruments such as Chamber Strings, Appassionata Strings, woodwind ensembles, saxophones, piccolo trumpet, contrabass tuba, Konzerthaus organ, concert guitar and many more.
The Special Edition PLUS Libraries offer additional articulations. While the instruments of the Special Edition Standard and Extended Libraries are represented with their basic playing techniques, the PLUS libraries offer additional styles such as short détaché, snap pizzicato, harmonics, portato, fortepiano, trills, repetition performances and many more.

Registered users of any FIRST EDITION, PRO EDITION or HORIZON SERIES OPUS 1 library are eligible to purchase a corresponding Special Edition Extended Library (not Plus Library) at the reduced upgrade price of only €25. Users who log in at Vienna's web shop will be presented with their personal prices depending on the libraries they have registered.
