Yellow Matter Entertainment has announced a new update to its popular drum software collection, Steven Slate Drums.

Steven Slate Drums v2.0 Signature Drumkits contains 36 unique preset drumkits in Kontakt format, consisting of multi-sampled, multi-velocity drum and cymbal hits. Also included in the collection are the raw Wav files of the drum samples, as well as Drumagog GOG files for sound replacement of live drums.

New in 2.0 are eleven "modeled" drumkits that are authentic soundalikes of some of the most sought after drum tones from legendary bands like Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Metallica, Deftones, Dream Theater, Greenday, and more.

The collection also boasts a number of unique features:

  • Each drum and cymbal set is sampled in four unique room environments known as the "Z" system:
    1. The Z1 set is the standard set, with a bit of overhead micing to give a punchy and dimensional sound.
    2. The Z2 set is a stereo set which has heavily compressed and eq'd room mics added in to create a larger then life sound that will stay huge sounding even in dense mixes.
    3. The Z3s are ultra dry and aggressive sounding and have no additional ambient micing.
    4. The Z4 contains just the compressed and eq'd ambience mics. Used in conjunction with the Z1 or Z3 sets, users can utilize the Z4 samples to make their own ambient spaces for their drum sounds.
  • Each sample set has been eq'd and compressed to perfection in actual mixes with the finest of both vintage and modern gear. All drum samples and cymbals were recorded to 2inch analog tape. The samples were tested in actual mixes and further tweaked, so that little to NO extra processing is required. The samples penetrate mixes with punch and bigness.
  • The "virtual drum locker" consists of many famous sounding drums that fit all styles of rock, pop, and metal. Some drums are sampled with different compression chains, different dampenings, and different tunings for ultra flexibility and variety.

Specifications:

  • 24-bit, 44.1khz mono and stereo drum samples.

Formats:

  • Native Instruments Kontakt.
  • FXpansion BFD2 (coming Q2 2008).
  • Drumagog GOG format.
  • Raw Wav files included with each collection.

With an MSRP of $399, Steven Slate Drums v2.0 Signature Drumkits is available now.
