Avid today announced new Sibelius 8.1 music notation software, helping composers to create "beautiful, accurate, easy-to-read scores more effortlessly than ever". As part of a series of regular updates delivered through Avid All Access Plans, Sibelius 8.1 introduces several of the customer community's top requests.

"Sibelius is the world's best-selling music notation software, and we are committed to providing even greater value for customers through lower pricing, flexible licensing plans, new bundles, and regular feature updates," said Dana Ruzicka, Vice President and Chief Product Officer at Avid. "The new Sibelius 8.1 introduces several top-requested features and key stability improvements, demonstrating our dedication to listening and responding to customer feedback."

With the release of Sibelius 8.1, creating scores is more effortless than ever:

  • Read and write music faster and easier with intelligent rests that automatically align with note flow.
  • Create concise first, second, and third time bars for playback accuracy, eliminating manual correction.
  • Export compositions as an MP3 audio file for faster file transfer that will not hit email size limits.

Avid also announced updates to Sibelius | Cloud Publishing technology, including a new transpose feature and streamlined documentation for music publishers. These enhancements make it easier for publishers to implement the technology into their webstores, so they can offer customers an enhanced online experience. With a Sibelius | Cloud Publishing-enabled site, publishers can allow their customers to view, play, transpose, print, and purchase scores online using any current web browser or mobile device.

Whether customers choose to own, upgrade, or subscribe to Sibelius, their purchase comes with an Avid All Access plan, providing access to regular feature releases, stability improvements, and expert help for the duration of the plan or subscription.
