Bolder Sounds has announced the "Music Maker V4 Programming Competition", which offers an opportunity to hone your NI Kontakt programming skills, share the your creations with others and win complimentary Bolder Sounds sample libraries. The Music Maker V4 is a free Kontakt instrument created by Bo Clausen and Dennis Burns.
Each contestant is required to submit a minimum of three Patches (.nki instruments) of the Music Maker V4 Kontakt instrument. Owning the Kontakt Sampler (not the Player) is required. Download the Music Maker V4 here.
The Music Maker V4.nki is your starting point (located in the Instruments folder). Within each instrument there are eleven different Preset menus - each with six preset slots. Do not confuse these Preset slots as instruments. One Kontakt instrument could potentially have six different Presets on the Instrument Tab as one example and six different Presets on the LFO Tab, etc. You certainly do not need to fill up all six Presets if you do not wish to, how far you wish to go with it is up to you.
Bolder Sounds suggest you take a look in the Examples folder in which there are nine examples of .nki instruments. Look through the various pages of these .nki instruments. Be sure to load up some of the Presets that are contained within each instrument and audition them to get an idea as to what is possible. It is very important to read the manual located in the Documentation folder, this is quite a powerful instrument.
Contestants should include a text file briefly explaining any CC # assignments or details about the presets that may not be obvious. Entries will be judged on creativity and musicality.
The judges will be Dennis Burns, Bo Clausen and Dave Polich.
By entering the winners agree to release their patches (.nki instruments) for others to download at no cost.
Three prizes will be awarded:
- 1st prize - 4 complimentary Bolder Sounds sample libraries of your choice.
- 2nd prize - 3 complimentary Bolder Sounds sample libraries of your choice.
- 3rd prize - 2 complimentary Bolder Sounds sample libraries of your choice.
Send your .nki instruments in either a zip or .rar file to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than September 30th, 2012.
