elysia has announced the release of a Public Beta version of its new alpha compressor.

The alpha compressor plug-in is the software reincarnation of elysia's mastering compressor. It gives you an emulation of the sound and features the hardware is known and popular for – programmed by Brainworx.

But not only the final stage of mastering will profit from this dynamics processor. elysia suggests that the compression section alone is such a useful tool that they have included a dedicated mixing version with a reduced interface so you can use it on every single track of your DAW.

Feature summary:

  • Integrated M/S Matrix: Mid/Side and stereo processing modes.
  • Auto Fast: Perfect attack and release in any situation.
  • Feed Forward & Feedback: Two selectable compressor characteristics.
  • Sidechain Filter: Frequency selective compression.
  • Parallel Compression: Mixing direct and compressed signals.
  • Soft Clip Limiter: More headroom, more loudness.
  • Audio Filter: Tweaking the sonic structure easily.
  • Warm Mode: Instant signal coloration.

Pricing & Availability

The free public beta version in RTAS, VST and AU plug-in formats for Mac OS X and Windows is available now. TDM and Venue will be added soon. The 14-days unlimited free trial works without an iLok; the full license needs an iLok.

The alpha compressor plug-in is scheduled to be released in all formats for $299 on December 1st, 2010. There will be an introductory discount. There will be a significant price drop for the mpressor plug-in starting December 1st, too. Finally, there is also going to be a bundle of the alpha and the mpressor.
