FabFilter Volcano has two independent filters with five different unique filter characteristics, ranging from smooth with moderate overdrive to extremely raw and self-oscillating. The filters feature low-pass, high-pass, and band-pass response types and 12/24/48 dB/oct slopes. The panning setting creates cool stereo effects without phase problems by changing the filter frequency for the left and right audio channels independently. FabFilter Volcano's interactive filter display shows the curves for both filters and lets you drag them around, separately or both at the same time.
Frequency, peak, and panning settings can be modulated in any way imaginable with the two LFOs and the triggered envelope generator. The LFOs have adjustable triangle and square wave forms and can be synchronized to the host tempo.
The MIDI learn feature lets you control FabFilter Volcano with any MIDI keyboard or controller within minutes, simply by turning knobs in FabFilter Volcano's user interface and on the controller.
Volcano costs US$139 and is available for Windows and Mac OS X in VST and AU formats. FabFilter One owners can purchase Volcano for US$99. Demo versions are available.
