Karoryfer Samples has released Shinyguitar, a free open source sample library for Plogue Sforzando. It features both electric and acoustic samples of an archtop guitar. Although such guitars are usually associated with mellow jazz tones, the sounds here have enough brightness, presence and attack for many other genres from indie rock to EDM.
Key features:
- All samples in both electric (direct pickup signal) and acoustic (microphone) versions.
- Four round robins and four velocity layers for the sustained notes.
- Release samples and muted plucks with five round robins.
- Percussive sounds with four round robins.
- GUI with controls also linked to MIDI CC.
- Tone color controls: pickup/mic blend, tone, tame and mute.
- Vibrato controls: depth, speed, delay and fade.
- Up to five unison voices with controllable width.
- A total of 846 24-bit 44.1 kHz WAV samples.
- 439 MB extracted size.
- Free download, royalty-free for all commercial and non-commercial use.
The below demo uses three instances of Shinyguitar as the only sound source. The melody is all pickup signal with the tone turned down and some vibrato applied, the chords are mostly microphone signal, and the percussion starts off as pickup signal but quickly changes to all microphone.
