LiquidSonics has announced the release of Reverberate, an efficient convolution audio processor with modulation capabilities offering true zero-latency operation for two separate, stereo impulse responses. It is available as a VST effect plug-in for Windows, priced at £30.
Reverberate seeks to provide a richer and more dynamic sounding reverb from impulse responses by optionally modulating an amalgamation of two, separately controllable IRs using an LFO. Further modulation is possible using the post-processing effects; an all-pass interpolator chorus provides a fuller sound and an over-sampled analogue prototype paragraphic equaliser is provided with dual LFOs. These features make for a livelier sound than typically associated with some convolution reverbs, according to LiquidSonics.
Features / specification:
- Stereo convolution reverb.
- Dual IR for true-stereo capability.
- IR mix modulation capability using an LFO.
- Zero latency (or select up to 8192 samples latency).
- Wav, Aiff and Flac IR file support.
- ADSHR envelopes.
- 50%-150% stretch.
- Double oversampled IR-EQ.
- Pre-delay up to 500ms.
- Linear-interpolation chorus.
- Post EQ with LFO modulation.
Also available is Reverberate LE. It is available in a standard CPU edition and a version taking advantage of NVIDIA CUDA for the main convolution processing tasks reducing CPU usage where a G80** and above compatible card is found in the system.
Features and Specifications:
- Stereo convolution reverb.
- Zero latency CPU edition (or up to 8192 samples for lower CPU usage).
- Low latency GPU edition (512 - 8192 samples delay).
- Wav, Aiff and Flac support.
- ADSHR envelopes.
- 50%-150% stretch.
- Double oversampled IR-EQ.
- Pre-delay up to 500ms.
- GPU Edition utilises the power of NVIDIA CUDA.
Reverberate LE is free but if you find it useful LiquidSonics would appreciate it if you could make a donation to its charity of choice - Cancer Research UK.
NOTE: The GPU Edition of Reverberate LE is offered as beta software and may remain so for a longer period of time than the CPU version while LiquidSonics refines elements of its operation. Some combinations of small buffer sizes, certain hosts, long impulse responses and multiple instances when used on some lower specification graphics cards may cause plug-in instability; hence the GPU Edition is not yet recommended for use on a production DAW.
Zero latency mode is not supported by the GPU Edition due to a combination of factors including the mechanisms involved with transferring data to and from the GPU being much more efficient with larger blocks, a current requirement to run CUDA VST plug-ins in a separate thread (making larger block processing more efficient) and the lack of coherency in buffering schemes used by various different VST hosts complicating the above issues. It may become more practical to implement this feature in future using newer GPU architectures.
