Muse Research Ships v1.0.1 Software for Receptor

-
Muse Research

Muse Research, the owners of K-v-R, are showing their first software upgrade for Receptor at AES. Receptor's software version 1.0.1 will be available for all Receptor owners very soon, and adds several new compatible plug-ins to the product, as well as improving the boot and reboot times and adding USB2.0 external drive support.

Receptor has also been awarded a Key Buy Award in the November issue of Keyboard Magazine! If you fancy reading the full review it is available as a PDF on the Muse Research website.

Improved boot time
Receptor was designed for live use, which means many of the design decisions took into consideration the reality of using high-technology products in unpredictable environments. Paramount in a performance situation is the ability to quickly recover from any crashes on stage caused by power spikes or brown outs, or in the unlikely event of a software crash. Receptor deals with these situations by booting up, or rebooting, in a very rapid manner. Although already impressive, the version 1.0.1 software for Receptor improves this reboot time by over 100%, making the time to reboot the application and re-instantiate the plug-ins that were running in a little under 5 seconds.

Support for USB 2.0 hard drives
Receptor supports the Kompakt sampler by Native Instruments, and many users are using Receptor as a hardware sampler running libraries in Kompakt/Kontakt, Giga, SoundFont, or Akai format. Muse Research has added USB2.0 drive support, allowing users to directly load samples from a Windows formatted hard drive connected to Receptor. Additionally, Muse Research has an on-going program to qualify sound libraries for compatibility with Receptor, and both the libraries from Prosonus, (distributed by Big Fish Audio), and EMU's SoundFont libraries as well as Sonic Implant and Sound Burst libraries have been determined to be compatible.

Support for new plug-ins
Receptor already has well over 100 plug-ins pre-installed on its hard drive, but version 1.0.1 software adds support for several new plug-ins, including discoDSP's Discovery and Vertigo, FXpansion's DR005, DR008, and BFD, as well as support for Applied Acoustics' Tassman, GMEDIA Music's impOSCar, and Native Instruments' Pro 53. Two new effects plug-ins make their debut in v1.0.1, including Final Track by Wave Arts. Our engineers have also developed an installer script that allows Spectrasonics Atmosphere, Trilogy, and Stylus to run on Receptor.

The next major version of software which adds ADAT output support as well as several new compelling features will be available at the Winter NAMM show this coming January.

If you are in the San Francisco area and are heading to AES or the Remix Hotel over the next few days please drop by our booths and say hello!
