Secret Base Design has released Voxkit, an iOS MIDI drum controller that can trigger notes from sounds. The controller can be played by tapping on a desk, drumming on any surface, clapping hands, beat-boxing, and so on. Using FFT-based analysis, up to four different sounds can be distinguished at one time.

The app has a number of built-in internal samples, allows the addition of new samples through iTunes file sharing, and can connect to other instruments and apps with Core MIDI or DSMIDI WiFi.

Additionally, the app can record audio and MIDI drumming, exporting these through file sharing, email, or with Audio Copy and Paste. Songs built with other apps can be brought in with Audio Paste, a drum track can be overdubbed, and then the new track can be exported for further mixing.
