At Musikmesse 2008, the Vienna Symphonic Library is presenting an expansion to the all-in-one orchestral collection Vienna Special Edition. The Vienna Special Edition PLUS adds 31.5 GB of new articulations to all of the string, woodwind, and brass instruments included in the Vienna Special Edition Standard and Extended Libraries, broadening the expressive possibilities of Vienna's entry-level orchestra. All users of the Vienna Special Edition can now add articulations they might have been missing until now at a compelling price. While the Vienna Special Edition PLUS is already available in the form of three download collections from the Vienna Symphonic Library webshop, the boxed product will be shipping from Vienna's worldwide network of distributors and dealers one week after Musikmesse.
As with every Vienna Instrument, the Vienna Special Edition PLUS comes with a Standard and an Extended Library. The Standard Library offers the basic orchestral instruments and ensembles, covering large post-romantic instrumentation. The Extended Library includes further instruments that enhance the symphonic variety of this collection, adding gems such as Chamber Strings, oboe d'amore, Epic Horns ensemble, saxophones, contrabass tuba, Wagner tuba and many more.
The PLUS in the product's name refers to the additional articulations not found in the Vienna Special Edition. For example, while the Solo Violin's articulations in the Vienna Special Edition include staccato, détaché, sustained, sforzato, tremolo, pizzicato, legato, and portamento, the Vienna Special Edition PLUS supplements these with the addition of the following articulations for the solo violin: Short détaché, fortepiano, snap-pizzicato, col legno, trills (two types), Repetition Performances (legato and spiccato), fast repetitions (150, 170, 190 BPM), harmonics (staccato and sustain), and ponticello (staccato, sustain, tremolo).
Like all Vienna Instruments collections, the Vienna Special Edition PLUS ships in the formats VST (OS X, Win XP/Vista), RTAS (OS X) as well as AU (OS X) and also works as a stand-alone instrument. Registered users are eligible to download the free mixing and host software Vienna Ensemble 2.
Both collections, the Vienna Special Edition and its PLUS expansion, are also available as a specially priced bundle.
