Weldroid has released a beta version of Synesthesia, a combined waveshaper / EQ / dynamics processor that is designed to be very light on the CPU, but to sound hi-fi enough to be put on the master buss without hesitation. A special combination of frequency-dependent harmonics generation and oversampling reduces aliasing way below audible levels, allowing smooth coloration of input material.
Synesthesia features flexible per harmonic definition of distortion / waveshaping characteristics, opening up possibilities to emulate static distortion of many nonlinear devices. Apart from the static waveshaping and equalization, dynamics processing is made possible by controlling a separate waveshaper curve with configurable attack and release time constants.
Features:
- Static waveshaping.
- Dynamic waveshaping.
- Unique sounding 4-band equalizer.
- DC filter.
- Optional oversampling.
- No latency.
- No audible aliasing.
- SSE optimized in assembly.
- Easy on the CPU.
Pricing & Availability
Synesthesia is available for Windows as a VST effect plug-in. It costs €30 whilst in Beta; €60 after the official release.
