Dear BlackWinny,.

Thank you very much for the factual feedback.

Firstly – yes, we remember what is the definition of "FREE". Due to Merriam-Webster online dictionary "FREE" also means "not costing any money" (see http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/free ). Moreover, the KVR Audio usage of "FREE" is linked to the PRICE. Other price options are: "Donationware (PWYW)" and "No longer available". What would you choose? And do you have any feeling, that you have to pay for this plugin? I think it is obvious that Alpha Pegasi is not in any violation of any definition of "FREE".

Secondly, the definition of "FREEWARE". Due to Wikipedia (yes, "the free encyclopedia"): "Freeware is software that is available for use at no monetary cost or for an optional fee, but usually (although not necessarily) closed source with one or more restricted usage rights. Freeware is in contrast to commercial software, which is typically sold for profit," and now the important part: "but might be distributed for a business or commercial purpose in the aim to expand the marketshare of a "premium" product." (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freeware and/or http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/freeware, http://oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/freeware a.o.) Now, consider again, if is it inappropriate to use term "FREEWARE" (in either of its meaning) for Alpha Pegasi. We don't think so.

Further, the email address, which you CAN use to get our plugin (really, it is "CAN", not "HAVE TO", because you don't have to enter your email, but then, indeed, you won't receive the download link; but usage of "compel" is inappropriate - see the definition of "COMPEL" at http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/compel ; and, again, the definition of "FREE" – "not physically held by something" - at http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/free ), can be used for informing about our (also freeware) plugins. You don't even have to be worried about your privacy, because we don't provide this data to any 3rd Party, and we don't use it to send any irrelevant SPAM. And, of course, due to law there is a possibility to UNSUBCSRIBE from the right first (or any other) newsletter (which will bring you a download link), and your email and other information are immediately permanently deleted from our database. Really, there is no need to be paranoiac.

And yes, our forum – you know, that the number of pages is not a relevant information. For us is more relevant the number of downloads (which is despite of email "obligation" pretty high) and especially positive email feedback. It is not about the number of KVR, forum or social followers as much as about the number of satisfied users. That is the primary, what we care about.

But, due to this your complaint, we updated the information about download conditions here on KVR.

Thank you very much and have a nice day,.

The VST Zone.
