AGT is recorded on the Taylor 714 acoustic guitar, with 3892 dry samples and a total size of 5GB. Original samples have been recorded as 24-bit 44.1kHz stereo. Natural sustain and resonating sounds of the guitar are unadulterated. No looping samples.
The samples are categorized in two banks: Strum and Pick.
As with other Ample Guitar instruments, AGT is also featured with the following functionalities and techniques: Hammer On & Pull Off, Legato Slide up & down, Slide in Below & Slide out Downwards, Palm Mute, Natural Harmonic, Popping 9 guitar techniques, Legato at random length, pitch & poly. All techniques can be played in Legato mode, even when strumming.
Strummer – control the details of strumming
By using real strumming samples with customized chord, rhythm and tempo, AGT Strummer combines the advantages of both sample-based and simulation strumming techniques with following features:
- Chord detection system supporting inversions - Optimized for keyboard players, every inversion of every chord is mapped to a different guitar position;
- 14 Strum notes + 28 playing modes for each chord;
- Strumming Legato with any techniques;
- Mute Depth;
- 4 humanization settings.
Rich Fingering Sound – the key to vividness and authenticity
The fingering sound on the fretboard contributes a large scale to the final guitar sound. Deliberately adding noise cannot fix the problem of authenticity. The finger movement greatly affects the guitar sounds. Ample Guitar takes this into consideration at the start of recording and software system designing. This makes AGT move one more step towards a perfect simulation of the real guitar. Technically, AGT follows a rigorous logic to trigger the fingering sounds automatically, and mix them authentically into the resulting sounds.
Controllable Resonance Sound – the key to richness
A physical acoustic guitar has a rich resonance. Especially when playing solos and single notes, lack of resonance results in a very thin sound and weak sound field. AGT simulates the resonating method of a physical acoustic guitar, by extracting the resonating signal out from a normal guitar sample, and then intelligently plays it back when users are playing AGT.
In all, the fingering sounds and the resonance sounds have pushed the envelope of modeling an acoustic guitar.
Multiple Stereo and Mono Modes
Traditional recording method cannot achieve lossless sound width tuning, or lossless conversion between stereo and mono, partially because of phase cancellation. AGT provides 2 Stereo and 2 Mono sound modes natively, which simulates different retrieval of the sounds collected from the recording microphones. The microphone volumes and sound width are adjustable under lossless quality.
