BeatLines is a sample based step sequencer with a nice and easy interface which consists of eight independent beat lines. By default BeatLines has a variety of preset rhythms for the user to use as they are, change them as he wants or create new ones and save them.
Each beat line has controls for sample volume, panning, playback speed (tonal transposition) and a 3-band equalizer. The user can select to build each beat line's pattern based on whole, halves, fourths, eighths, sixteenths and thirty-seconds beat durations, which can also be triplets either using the default audio samples or loading his/her own.
Overall controls include tempo, master volume and a stereo equalizer.
Finally, BeatLines can be "ReWired" into other DAW applications or ReWire hosts and synchronize to their tempo and beat-count.
The new BeatLines version (1.1.0) includes level and pitch controls for every separate beat on each beat line.
Also, each beat line can now support an Audio or MIDI mode.
When in Audio mode, the beat line handles audio samples as before, with the addition of level control for dynamics and ghost hits, and pitch transposition for each beat, with MIDI pitch 60 (C4) being the transposition base.
When in MIDI mode, each beat line can send MIDI messages to separate MIDI channels with different MIDI instrument having control of pitch and level (velocity) on each beat. When MIDI channel 10 is selected, the General MIDI Drum Map becomes available to the user. Each MIDI beat line has a "main" pitch and velocity level if the user wants to change all of the beat line's values at once, as well as a randomize option...just for fun.
