Empire 2 is a reverb effect plug-in. It is based upon the original free Empire VST released under the name PalancarWare, which itself was based upon the public domain FreeVerb code originally written by Jezar, but now includes a proper GUI as well as new reverb models and several other enhancements.

Empire 2 focuses primarily upon ease of use. Where other reverbs try to provide as many parameters as possible to empower the artist, instead Empire 2 tries to have as few controls as possible but still enable the artist good flexibility in crafting their sound. To this end, Empire 2 offers twelve different reverb 'models', which govern many of the reverb parameters, then offers separate controls for input gain, dry level, reverb 'depth' and reverb 'brightness'. The result is an easy to use and flexible reverb plugin with good cpu usage characteristics and a nice sound quality.

Built using Synthedit, however all of the DSP is done in a custom Synthedit module made specifically for Empire 2, coded in C++. Synthedit is strictly for the user interface.
