EP-station is an electric piano plug-in that generates sound by mixing 3 different raw electric piano FM models. The mix output is then processed by a tremolo, a phaser, a stereo chorus, and an autopan effects.

Features:

  • Each of the 3 models have separate controls for mix level, tuning, decay time, brightness, and velocity response (with 3 different velocity curves). The playing velocity can be used to control the overall model level, or its brightness, or both.
  • Thanks to its powerful note stealing algorithm, dense passages can be played, even with a limited maximum polyphony.

This VSTi is definetily not lacking in charecter. Forget what it's supposed to emulate. It can really have a sound charecter of it's own and can be pushed into use for pads, basses, chord chops, riffs or just about anything.

Infact I've come to regard this as a true musical instrument that I sometimes just fire up and play without nessaccerily sequencing.

Shame that it seems to be marketed as just an electric piano emulation. I would say it's a keyboard instrument leaning towards electric piano sounds. And I am pretty glad it doesn't emulate those vintage piano's down to the shortcomings and limitaions.

The sound is warm and distinctive and the editing method (using numeric values) though not extremely exciting, is still very functional.

For future updates I could suggest a solo/mute function for each of the three sound modules so you can instantly compare and chisle away at one in particular.

Though I find the interface attractive I also think that a compact mode would be useful.

An excellent attempt to bring a really broad, good quality electric/electronic piano simulation to non Logic users.

The sounds are excellent and I certainly have had no problems using this VSTi.

The only reason for giving the VSTi 9 for the user interface is one of personal taste, it would be nice to turn the text part on or off, rather than having a lot of text always visible. This certainly isn't an important criticism as it does provide a wonderful interface while editing sounds (which obviously is of greatest importance)
