MIDImorphosis converts polyphonic live audio or recordings into MIDI on iOS. Without any specialized hardware, you can convert a guitar or bass into a MIDI controller, and take advantage of the wide range of iOS synthesizers and sequencers. When combined with a guitar effects app, you can create complex, evolving sounds.
The conversion is relatively low latency; it should be suitable for moderate playing speeds live, but is not as fast as the hardware MIDI converters by Roland and Fishman. Conversion of audio files avoids the latency issue, and is a convenient way to obtain a transcription from a recording.
With support for Audiobus, Audio Copy and Paste, virtual MIDI, Core MIDI, DSMIDI WiFi, and iTunes file sharing, it should be easy to integrate MIDImorphosis into your music making process.
The Secret Base Design web site hosts a number of videos illustrating how to get the best performance from the app, what it can do, and also the limitations.
