I have several different softwares, Cakewalk, Powertracks 10, Acid Pro, Vegas 4.0. N-Tracks, Tracktion, and I like them all for one reason or the other, but all seemed lacking in one area or another. Then a forum member on another site suggested trying Multitrack Studios, so I demo-ed it and it seemed easy to setup and to learn, so I bought the Pro version. I never imagined just how much this would change the way I recorded. I found that instead of fussing with software, I was getting projects done, and with little or no hassle. I literally knocked out a song in the first hour, where I was having issues with some of the other programs I had. Some of the features I like best are:

1. the fact that it really has only one screen, no more switching from track view to console view, no more having several windows open at the same time and sliding them around to work.

2. The 19 world class effects, including a Colvolutor, a great compressor, reverb, a guitar tuner, you name it, even a sampler that plays sound fonts. Just pop a sampler into a midi track load a font, and bam instant sound, even change fonts during playback and demo different sounds with out problem.

3. The ease of mixing and mastering, pop a reverb, an EQ, and a compressor into separate effects busses and adjust for each tracks need, add a master limiter to the last slot on the master buss and adjust to taste and then tweek to your personal taste. The key to this software is simpicity, but do not let the easy nature fool you into thinking it does not have rich and powerful features. I just upgraded to the ProPlus version and it is even better, add a free wheel organ and an amp sim. it works in 16, 24, 32 and 32 bit float. This program will make you forget all about the big names and big prices.
